Pages and usernames

One account, one username, and as many pages as you need. How links are built and what you can change on each page.

Pages and usernames

Your account has one username and any number of pages. Every page gets its own link, its own hours, and its own personality.

whattime.to/{slug}/{username}
│ └── your account username, the same on every page
└── the page slug, different for each page

So whattime.to/talk/maya and whattime.to/game/maya belong to the same person and can say completely different things about when to reach them.

Your username

  • 3 to 30 characters, using letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens.
  • Case-insensitive to look up, so /talk/Maya and /talk/maya reach the same page. Your original capitalization is what visitors see on the page itself.
  • Changeable once every 30 days, from the Account section of the dashboard. Old links stop working when you change it.
  • Some names are reserved because they collide with parts of the site, like admin, api, help, and settings. If one is unavailable for that reason, the form tells you.

Your pages

The page switcher at the top of the dashboard sidebar creates new pages. Four types are suggested to get you started:

SlugGood for
talkThe general-purpose default. Your main link.
meetHours you are happy to take a scheduled conversation.
callWhen a phone call or voice chat is welcome.
gameEvenings and weekends you are actually online to play.

You are not limited to those. Type any custom slug you like, as long as it is 2 to 20 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, and starts with a letter. You can own one page per slug.

What lives on each page

Every page carries its own copy of all of this, so a change to one never leaks into another.

Badges on your page

If a badge has been awarded to your account, it appears next to your display name on every one of your public pages. Badges are granted by the WhatTime.to team, so there is nothing to enable on your side. These are different from the embeddable status badges you put on other sites.
